Format:

  1. The departure time for crews to leave the start/jetty is in line with the Protocol for Regattas which will ensure that crews will be at the start in good time for their race.
  2. The fastest crews from the previous year will start at the head of the pack and the slowest, or unranked, crews will start at the back in order to give each crew clear water to race in.
  3. The crews will depart at 20 second intervals.
  4. Unfortunately UCT has not been able to field a women’s VIII and therefore there is no Boat race for the women. The Stellenbosch crew has therefore been entered into the Head of the River Race.
  5. All crews are to report to the start at least two minutes before the start of their race. No crews will be allowed to row up to the start while other crews are racing, so make sure you get there in time.
  6. Crews for the Head of the River Races will be lined up in their starting order 50m before the start. They will start rowing from there and cross the start at racing pace. Time goes in at the start line, so it is in your interest to follow the umpire’s commands to make sure you have enough space to get your boat up to speed.
  7. UCT will officially challenge Stellenbosch at the clock tower in the days before the race. On the day of the boat race the captains will flip for the bank of their choice.
  8. Any further question can be directed to either Jenny McDonald or Chris Vermaak.
