The Melck Run 2006

See pictures from the Melck Run here.

A successful first running of the Western Cape's version of the "long row" was held on 18th June 2006.  Racing (or rowing) started from Kersefontein, a farm owned by Julian Melck, and ended at Kruispad, owned by his brother Arthur.  The total distance rowed was about 18 kilometres.  Afterwards all rowers returned to Kersefontein for a braai and the usual restrained celebrations.

Further information, photographs and reports are being sourced.

At this stage let us record our thanks to:

  • Guy du Sautoy for organising the event.
  • Julian and Arthur Melck for allowing us access to their farms.
  • The supporters, drivers and rescue launch pilots for being there for us.
  • The rowers for participating.
